Alois Jirásek one of the most interesting Czech novelists of the World War I period was born in 1851 in Hronov. At younger age he planned to be a painter, but his live path lead him to a Philosophical Faculty. After graduation he launched a career in education, teaching Czech history. His most famous works were based on the histories of Czech and Czech people. Another sphere of his talent which brought him a success was playwriting. His plays and historical novels full of patriotism and faith in his nation. In all his works Jirasek strived for progress to freedom and justice.

On the monument located at Nove Mesto in Prague we can see the great Czech novelist sitting on a chair, concentrated probably on some history work or novel. His face seems serious, as if Alois Jirásek thinks about the destiny of Czech people and the justice all over the words.

A museum to the memory of great national figure- Aloise Jiráska was established in the city where he was born.
