US broadcasting station Radio Free Europe/ Radio Liberty was established in 1949 and its main goal is the free distribution of information to countries that have been in operation and don’t have freedom. Free Europe/ Radio Liberty broadcast in many different languages in many countries of the world. In 1951 RFE/RL started broadcasting in Czechoslovakia, overseen by such famous Czech personalities from the journalistic world as Ferdinand Peroutka, Pavel Tigrid and others. Untill 2002 Radio Free Europe/ Radio Liberty continued broadcasting in the country together with Cesky Rozhlas 6. Since 1995 Cesky Rozhlas 6 continued the tradition of Czech broadcasting, but under different, democratic conditions presenting as a station of the spoken word and democratic journalism. However in Slovakia RFE/RL finished broadcasting two years later.
