Prague Zoo: How to get there, tickets and what to do.
The zoo of Prague is one of the best in Europe. After the flood of 2002 the zoo was rebuild and very much improved.
The easier way to get there is to get the red line of the underground and leave in the Nádrazí Holesovice and once out, take the bus 112. The bus will leave you in the very street of the zoo Trojská Street. In this area you will also find some Hotels in Prague, a calm zone to relax not so close to the city centre. The opening hours depend on the month of the year from 9am to 6pm to19pm. Adults pay a 150ks ticket and discounted tickets cost 100ks, and dogs 20ks. You can also buy a anual ticket for 500ks.

The flood was in the middle of August and t got to 10 meters deep. More then 1,000 animals were moved from their homes by the water. Unfortunately 134 animals were not saved by the workers of the zoo who worked hard under extreme pressure of time and in a tense and often dramatic conditions. Most of the buildings were destroyed and demolished. The demanded was estimated in 232 million ks.
Although the reconstructions went well and today you can see a large amount of animals and species. This Zoo cares for the animals; no being is living in bad situation. All of them have its space with the specific conditions that create the best environment for the animal’s well-being. The workers of the zoo are all very sympathetic, they will be happy to respond to any of your questions. At the beginning of your visit, a map will be given to you so you can make your own tour but you surly have to try the funicular of small chairs that can go up or down hill.
