Sea World - Marine Aquarium of Prague

Sea World - Marine Aquarium of Prague

If you are a lover of the colorful and amazing underwater world you can miss the amazing Sea World. Practical information of tickets and transport.

Even when Prague doesn’t have a sea cost there is an interesting place where you will feel certainly close to the ocean: the Marin Aquarium. The Sea World is a permanent exhibition of marine and also freshwater fish and other animals of the overall count of 360 species. Modern aquariums perfectly simulate the natural setting of sea creatures using 75 thousand litters of specially treated salt water, artificial sun and moon light, artificial high and low tides, and even a simulation of the full moon.

It is a Zoological Garden since the year of 2006 although it is open since the years of 2002. It swallowed up 260,000 liters of water in total and contains 50 aquariums altogether, out of which the largest one has a volume of 100,000 liters and serves as a home for the two-meter long sand shark.

It is a marine life zoo with an educational centre for both, children and adults, includes a family entertainment for all ages and groups. The politics of this aquarium are very careful with the protection of the animals therefore there isn’t any performing of dolphins seals or whales because it doesn’t intend to be a circus.

Two brand new aquariums were opened in December of the year of 2006. The first one is inspired by the model of the Bounty ship and you would find over 200 species here, just to name a few: the morays, shark-stingray, or carpet-shark. The second aquarium holds a volume of 15,000 liters and is decorated with a reproduction of the lighthouse from North Carolina, USA, which is occupied by a pack of predatory barracudas and the globefish. The most recent aquarium is engaged by pearly nautili and horseshoe crabs, and worth of refering is another aquarium in a shape of the tube, where the visitors can admire the breeding stock of sensitive jellyfish. The exhibition also incorporates a floor animatronics of fish and tortoises, and a 25-meter-long coral cave. When you are actually there, you get the feeling that you in fact are under the sea level. The main aquarium is great, it’s like a reef, with lots of different and exotic coral fish from tropical seas, and the sharks, of course. The one named after Port Jackson port in Sydney looks interesting with its bulging eyes and flat head.

It is located in Výstaviště, Praha 7, Česká republika, it is open form Monday to Sunday, from 10am to 7pm. The Sea world complex can be found next to the Exhibition Pavilions in Holesovice. You can get there either by subway leaving in the station Nadrazi Holesovice form the red line C, or by taking the following trams 1, 12, 15 or 25 to stop in Vystaviste. The prices of the ticket are for adults, 240 CZK, and 190 CZK is the price for discounted tickets. Next to this are you will also find nice and pleasant Hotels in Prague where you can rest and enjoy your stay.

With or without children you have definitely to visit this amazing place in the centre of Prague.
