Statue of St. Philip Benitius was created in 1714 by Michal Bernard Mandl from Salzburg marble and donated by the Servites convent in Prague. St. Philip Benitius, fifth general of the Servites, is depicted holding a cross, a book and a twig and crown of the Pope - papal tiara lying at his feet symbolizing the saint’s refusal of the papal see in 1268. If you are inetersted you can find a clay model of this statue in the Salzburg museum. Saint Philip Benitius lived in 13-14th century and was a great propagator of the order of Servants of Mary (the Servites). After death his body is kept in the church of the Servites of Mary in Todi and his liturgical feast is on August 23.
