Statue of Saints Vincent Ferrer and Procopius

One of the most artistically important statues on the Charles Bridge is statue of Saints Vincent Ferrer - a 14 century Spanish priest, and Procopius - Hussite warrior-priest, sculpted by Ferdinand Brokoff in 1712 and paid for by Romedius Josef František, the count Thun and lord of Choltice. The statue depicts Saint Vincent Ferrer boasting to Saint Procopius about conversions of 25,000 Jews and 8,000 Muslims he made. You can recognize St. Vincent on the left of the group, with kneeing penitent sinner and a coffin near his legs, and Saint Procopius standing on a devil to the right. Devil looks poor and distressed as St Vincent Ferrer cast out 70 such devils during his lifetime and also managed to resurrect 40 people. Saint Vincent Ferrer died in 1419 in France and was buried in Vannes Cathedral. In 1455 he was canonized by Pope Calixtus III and since that his feast day is celebrated on April 5.
