Štefánik’s statue on Prague’s Petřín

You can find Stefanik’s statue built by the Ohio Slovakian Diaspora in 1922 in Prague’s Petrin Hill in front of Stefanik observatory and sundial. Observatory was opened in 1928 and dedicated to the name of Milan Rastislav Stefanik - pilot from First World War, a distinguished man, among many of his occupations (he was General in French army, a pilot, a diplomat or a co-founder of Czechoslovak state) he was also a successful astronomer and Charles University graduate, a scientist, adventurer and national hero of titan proportions. He liked to say his motto: To Believe, To Love and To Work – in Czech language (Veriť, milovať, pracovať). Štefánik’s tomb is situated on the Bradlo hill in Brezová pod Bradlom in Slovakia was designed by Dušan Jurkovič in 1927-28.
