Tourism in Czech Republic

Recently the Czech Republic has become one of the major tourist destinations in Europe. Historical architecture, which was not destroyed during World War II, beautiful landscapes, tourist friendly environment and most important relatively low cost make this country a place of great tourist attraction. Formerly communist country as well as growing economy and democracy make it both comfortable and attractive place for tourism for people both from former Soviet countries and Western Europe.

From the diagram above it is clear that most tourist come to the country for holiday, recreation and knowledge. Czech Republic is getting popular as shopping destination. Probably for lower cost, as the country is not in the Euro zone yet, which makes goods cheaper here; and for lower salaries level, which also impacts on the price of the goods in the shops. The number of business trips to the Czech Republic has increased, that proves that the country is getting more interesting for international business and investments.
71 % of the tourists are coming to the Czech Republic on individual basis, 20,3 % arrived with travel agency and the rest ensured their stay otherwise Whereas most of the one-day visitors arrived to republic individually – 98,5 % and only 0,6 dared for one-day trip with travel agency.

By the way major information source for visiting the Czech Republic tourists are staying travel agencies. They are followed by recommendation of family members, friends and relatives. Interesting fact is that about 44 % of tourists are repeated guests to the country. Interesting fact is that most guests got the information from travel agencies and media. More than 70 % of tourists stay in Czech Republic less than 7 days. About a quarter of all tourists coming to the Czech Republic enjoy 1-2 weeks holiday here, and only 5 % of tourists stay longer than 15 days. Average length of stay of tourists is 5,3 days. Below you can find a interesting chart which shows tourists stays country by country. Analyzing the data we can see that the closer the home country of the guests the less they spent in the Czech Republic. So Poles, Austrians and Slovaks stay in the country no longer 4 days. Whereas American guests spent in the Czech Republic 11 days on average.
