Visit a local Prague Christmas market at Peace Square, just 15 minutes walk from Wenceslas Square. The market is set in front of the grand St. Ludmila Church. Republic Square has two Christmas markets. One market is near V Celnici street (until 24 Dec 26), the second is in front of Palladium Shopping Centre (until 6 Jan 27). Both offer handcrafted wares and traditional Czech food and drink. Entry is free.

Charles Bridge

As dusk turns to night, a lamplighter dressed in period costume makes his way along Charles Bridge lighting the historical "gas lamps" that line both sides of the bridge. It's a bit of theatre, but when better than Christmas to recall a custom that dates from the pre-electric age.
Starts at the Old Town Bridge Tower.

From late November 2025 to early January 2026, a wide range of Christmas concerts are staged in Prague. On the 5th December Prague celebrates Mikulas. St. Nicholas's, Devils and Angels roam the city, much to the awe of young Czech children who sing songs and recite poems for them. Observe this Christmas tradition at Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square from mid-afternoon.
